Peter Brucher began his career in the wine industry in 1972. First as grower of high quality chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon grapes in the Rutherford Bench area of the Napa Valley and secondly, in 1978, as founder and managing general partner of the Vichon Winery in the Oakville area of Napa Valley.
Successfully launching Vichon’s first vintage in 1980, designing and building a state of the art winery and developing a creative national marketing program, Pete Brucher earned the reputation for being an innovative wine producer with a dedicated commitment to quality.
Pete sold the Vichon Winery and Vineyard in 1989 to the Mondavi family. Moving to a cool weather climate capable of producing the style of pinot noir and chardonnay that could compete with the greatest wines in the world intrigued Peter. He decided to move to Santa Maria, at the northern end of Santa Barbara County.
Turing his attention to the design and development of the Brucher Winery, he uses his knowledge and experience as a grape grower to select pinot noir and chardonnay from the finest vineyards in the area. These cool climate vineyards allow the grapes longer hang time on the vine, which enables the fruit to develop greater intensity and flavor. |
